1) Knobs are stiff and difficult to turn, especially for older hands and 2) the Even-Heat Ultra burner goes from hot to hottest with little middle ground temperature and it's difficult to guess where the middle temp is. The solid black glass top is attractive but it's it's difficult to determine where to place the pan or pot on each of the burners. Ventilation works well.

It really simmers!

My new cooktop is so much better than the ones I have had in the past. It cooks evenly and for the first time in the 26 years I've had a cooktop with downdraft, I can simmer without constantly checking. I can also keep vegetables warm without burning them. And when I cook hamburgers, I can control the heat enough to sear, then cook to medium rare without burning them. As importantly, the downdraft to ventilate works well. It extracts most of the smoke generated bysearing. The only drawbacks are that it seems more difficult to clean than the older version of the cooktop that it replaced.

Downdraft vent grill is not heat resistant

I have had this cooktop for one week. It replaced an out of production Kitchenaid downdraft that had a cast iron grill cover over the fan. This new model has a vent grill with unknown coating. I could not find what the coating is made of or any instruction not to touch it with hot pans. I set a hot pan on it as I did all the time with the previous grill cover. The coating melted in two places and now looks awful. I saw no warning not to place hot pans on or near the grate. I wanted to stay with Kitchenaid because I was so happy with the older unit. I only replaced it because the service technician said the fan could not be replaced or fixed as it was discontinued. So far I am not very happy with this cooktop and would not recommend it. It is also hard to keep clean. Also, there is only one light that comes on to warn you a burner is still hot. The recommend or not tab keeps defaulting to yes, so if they are different that is why, as I stated earlier I would not recommend.

Under-glass stains persist

This is the 3rd cooktop which develop ™€œdirty™€ discolorations UNDER the glass on all burners. (We use only approved cookware). I would never recommend this to anyone considering a new cooktop!!

Installed 3 weeks ago. Looks grea. The one issue is the heating surfaces seem to scratch easily. My wife studied information on what type of cookware was best for electric glass cooktops. Everything pointed toward stainless steel, so she purchased an expensive set of pots & pans. The pans had the typical serrated bottoms and unfortunately scratched the glass heating surface on first use. Those pans , unfortunately have been retired. Since we have purchased a smooth bottom set of aluminum Calphalon, also not cheap. So far this set does not scratch the glass surface but also does not seem to heat evenly. We believe the poor heating issue is due to the pans being aluminum. Time will tell but buyer beware, only use smooth bottom pans on these glass cooktops.

Like cooktop, but right and left sides are not protected from damage. The top and bottom have a 1™€ stainless steel edge, but nothing on sides. I tried multiple times to contact Kitchen aid and ask for recommendations, but customer service number listed is only for orders and repairs. No options for help and questions on cooktop products, like my question. Tried to chat, but no one responded Please send me a phone number for cooktop questions and how tos. Or respond to this survey with answers on how to protect edges. Thank you

Well designed and built cooktop. Easy to install. Love the three speed downdraft. So far, no scratches. Easy to clean immediately after cooking with microfiber cloth. We did clean the bottoms of our cookware really good before the first use. Heats up and boils water quickly.

I've had this cooktop for less than 1 year and the surface is already coming off the top of the burner. I am very careful when cooking. It is not from boiling water/liquid overflow. I clean the cooktop as instructed after each use. I've tried everything to fix it, and nothing works. Not a happy customer, especially after spending so much $. I will say that other than this cosmetic issue (which is important), it has good functionality.

One too many features!

Wish we hadn't ordered the electric cooktop with the stainless steel edging along the front and back. Thought we would get a stainless vent but it is the same black as the plain cooktop. The stainless edging is just something to collect crumbs so save the extra bucks and order the plain cooktop!

Delivered December 4th and I am very pleased with its quality and performance of my new KitchenAid 30™€ cooktop. We had family coming in and staying over the Christmas holiday and an abundance of cooking was going to take place. We previously had a Jenn-Air 30™€ electric cooktop and one of the burners no longer worked. The KitchenAid cooktop works like a charm. The burners heat up quickly, cleanup is a breeze and the knobs work more efficiently to adjust heating element during cooking. Initially, it will take trial and error to achieve the desired heat based on how quickly the elements heat up. But other than this, the product is well worth it.

Purchased this downdraft cooktop for a new kitchen remodel. Mechanical seems to be good. I made some chicken broth using a 16 quart pot. After using it there were marks in the glasstop. I expected the glass to be scratch resistant. The pot wasn™€™t moved around.

DISAPPOINTING PRODUCT - DIDN'T EVEN LAST 9 MONTHS

I purchased my house after a major kitchen remodel by home flipper and my glass cooktop has warped after 8 months of use. Kitchen aid won't honor warranty because the unit was purchased five months before we bought the home. Even though it was NEVER used before we moved in. I am scared to use the cooktop because I don't want hot glass to crack or explode on me. The downdraft is very disappointing and doesn't do a good job with cooking steam or smoke. All in all I am so bummed that an appliance which cost over $2,500 didn't even last more than nine months. DO NOT BUY THIS!

Kitchen Aid electric downdraft cooktop

Home warranty company purchased this cooktop as a replacement for my Jennair electric downdraft cooktop, which quit working. I am still getting used to the settings on this cooktop. I do not like the knobs because they are much more difficult to clean than the Jennair's dials which were embedded in the cooktop leaving a totally flat surface. Otherwise, it seems to work okay.

Disappointed product

Downdraft cooktop 7/11/2024

I recently purchased a KitchenAid cooktop, and I am extremely disappointed with the product. Despite being brand new, it literally fell apart overnight. I woke up to find all the knobs detached, the glass top sitting on the counter, and the bottom section hanging down. Given that Best Buy handled the installation, I am confident the issue is not related to improper setup. Even more frustrating, after getting a replacement unit, I noticed it is also starting to detach in the same way. This recurring problem indicates a serious flaw in the design or manufacturing process. I am at a loss for what to do next. The lack of durability in such a high-end product is unacceptable. I expected much better from a brand like KitchenAid and am now questioning my investment in their appliances.

cooks great - easy to clean

Happy with new cooktop.

I replaced a propane Jenn Air to eliminate the propane burners. The new Kitchen Aid was slightly (1/4") too big so the opening in the cast stone countertop was enlarged with a diamond grinder blade. The cooktop works well. It is nice to be able to run the fan with the burner on. The duct was connected with a piece of flex as it almost lined up with the existing duct.

Disappointing

We were excited about this cooktop but we are disappointed. The downdraft vent does not really suck the smog downwards. The control panel is on the right side so you can™€™t rest pot handles on that side. We regret to buy this cooktop overall.
